Humble yourselves before the Almighty and HE will Lift you Up!

James 4:10
New International Version
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

1 Peter 5:6-7
New International Version
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Do you remember what ‘humble‘ means?
Humble, tapeinóō; to depress; (figurative) to humiliate (in condition or heart):—abase, bring low, humble (self).
Grammar: It is the Aorist Imperative Passive (aipp).
This is a command!

What about ‘exalt‘?
Exalt, hupsóō; To heighten, raise high, elevate, lift up.

TIP: Remember to take the meanings back to the text.
“Humble (make yourself low) in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt (raise, elevate, lift) you up. ”
